Volunteering options
  • Court Watcher's Program: Volunteers are trained to observe the proceedings of the Texas Judicial System and the treatment of victims by prosecutors, defense attorney, and judges.  Responsibility of the Court Watcher is not to determine guilt or inncence, but to show STARS support for victims at all court proceedings and to instill a sense of accountability in those involved in the justice system.
  • Health Fairs: Volunteers who attend public health fairs are provided with the necessary resources to hand out at community health fairs throughout El Paso,  They man information booths, meet and great the general public, and as a STARS representative, educate our community members of services available to the El Paso and Ft. Bliss community through STARS.
  • Fundraising Participation: Volunteers who offer their time to assist with fundraising participate in the following STARS Major fundraising events:


    Annual Border Issues Conference:  Event participation includes assistance at the registration table, room monitors for workshop  speakers; assisting attendees locate workshops.

    Annual Carly Martinez Race for Awareness:  Event participation includes bag-stuffing prior to race; assistance with manning late registration table on race day; assisting at assigned water stations; assistance at various food station, and assistance with finish line duties.
